Nick Fell
Apologies. It seems I didn’t give credit for my Nike post yesterday. And as Nick rightly points out, “it’s all about the etiquette”. So here is my attempt to remedy the situation.
Truth is, his tumblr is much better than mine, not that either of my readers will make much impact on his mass appeal and advertising measurement analytics. Oh and he also has a tremendous facebook group which he started that got him some nice press cuttings for being such a bright young button. Unfortunately ladies, he is taken by the wonderfully talented Heta. But professionally he really is top banana. And a ruddy nice bloke to boot. I’m hoping to ride his wave for as long as possible.
Nick- will this cover me pinching your content for the next… say month?!
Point, and I do have one, is the bizarre sychophantic nature of the blogosphere. It’s all part of the “open source” culture, the power of crowds etc, and although critical to the constant evolvement and spread of information across the net, people linking to each other’s ideas, thoughts, opinions etc, all it takes is for someone like me to cut the chain of info and I’m in for the web 2.0 highjump
Therefore, when advising brands in this new sociable world, it is critical they a) don’t pinch ideas b) listen to what is being said and c) are ALWAYS transparent about their objectives for engaging. My colleague over in the states, a MR John Bell, one of the grand fromages of the Word-Of-Mouth discipline, talks about it here. And yes, I did pinch most of what I’ve just written from there. Figures.
